Politicians should emulate Olubadan – Cleric
Apr 23rd 2013, 23:00

Political office-holders have been urged to emulate the virtues of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Odulana Odugade.

The presiding Pastor, Living Spring Chapel International, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, gave the advice on Tuesday when he visited the Olubadan, who is marking his  99th birthday anniversary.

Describing the monarch as an exemplary personality, the cleric said, "We came to felicitate with you. We came to join thousands of people who came to rejoice with you. We are proud of you; you are a unique Oba. Your reign is noted for development. Your time as the Olubadan has brought social, educational and economic development to the land.

"There are lots of things that our leaders can learn from the Olubadan. Among these are humility and service to the people. The Olubadan is such a fatherly and sacrificial person, who is driven by a strange passion to serve his people.

"Our political leaders should learn discipline and serve people with passion.

"The monarch brought development. His reign has been peaceful. Leadership is about service and adding value to the people. It is about leaving legacy behind, not in acquisition of money and other material things."
