President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday asked political office-holders to ensure that they used the resources available to them to better the lots of the people.
He said at the end of every political contests, winners must ensure that they represent all irrespective of their political leanings.
Jonathan made the call when he received some elders from Zamfara State led by Governor Abdulaziz Yari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said, "After elections, rulers represent everybody, regardless of whether they voted for you or not, so all citizens should be beneficiaries of national or state resources.
"The duty of any government is to spread development, and this is not a favour. Our administration will continue to do the best for all citizens within the limits of available resources."
The President advised relevant government agencies on the proper management of environmental challenges associated with the exploitation of minerals.
He thanked the delegation for coming to appreciate the Federal Government's siting of a university, and the release of N837.5m to check lead poisoning in the state.
