Mother locks young daughters inside alarmed bedroom so she can live with child abuser

A mother locks her two young daughters inside an alarmed bedroom so she can share a bed with her husband who is a convicted child abuser. And social services in the area have approved the plan

From UK Mirror

Two young sisters are being locked inside an alarmed bedroom at night to protect them from their mother’s paedophile husband – and social workers say it’s fine. The authorities have astonishingly given the go-ahead to the monstrous plan the mum dreamed up so she can sleep with their vile stepfather.

The convicted abuser, once jailed for attacking a girl under 13, has now been allowed to move in with her and the children – also both under 13.

And among other ‘safety’ factors believed to have been taken into account in a shocking official report was that the paedophile would have to climb over the mum from his side of the bed to get to the girls – and would therefore wake her up.

County council officials who rubber-stamped the decision were also happy that the imprisoned children could use a baby monitor to call for their mother if they needed to be let out to go to the toilet.

They allowed the child abuser to move in only a few months after describing him as a “continuing risk” to the girls.

Details of the decision emerged after the children’s worried grandmother contacted the Sunday Mirror over her fears for their safety. She said: “The alarm and the other so-called precautions to stop my granddaughters being abused are a load of rubbish.

“Since learning my daughter’s new husband was a paedophile I’ve tried to express my concerns to social services.

“I’m appalled this man was allowed to move into the family home with my granddaughters. Other family members also feel their concerns are being ignored.

“It feels like my granddaughters are isolated and at risk. Social services don’t seem to want to listen to me.

“It’s heartbreaking, but I have to keep fighting this for the sake of the girls.

A source close to the troubling case said: “We can’t believe that this mother has been so stupid as to take up with this man.

“And how on earth is an alarm going to stop him if he decides he wants to abuse those children? Everyone involved in this atrocious situation should hang their heads in shame.”

The identity of the paedophile, his wife and the children, who live in Devon, are all known to the Sunday Mirror but cannot be revealed for legal reasons.

The children’s mother got together with the child abuser, a man in his 40s, less than five years ago.

She had split from the girls’ father who moved out and at first saw his children at weekends. But he then relocated with a new partner and does not now have regular access.

The mother told social workers she was fully aware of the paedophile’s past and that he had been a previous boyfriend in the Eighties. As a convicted child abuser he is subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) which bans him from having unsupervised contact with under-16s. He also has to sign the Sex Offenders Register.

But a year after they began dating, the mother applied to be an ‘approved person’ to provide supervision of contact between the paedophile and her children, a requirement of his SOPO.

That move was rubber-stamped by a body called the Devon Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. It is made up of police, probation officers, social workers and other agencies.

The couple married the following year – with the mother sharing details of her and the paedophile’s growing relationship on her Facebook page. It tells how the couple enjoyed spending time with the girls, jaunts to the seaside and pub meals.

After their wedding the mum wrote online that they “had a fantastic day with the family”.

But later she had to call police to her home after a neighbour loudly called her partner “an animal”.

By the end of that year, a Devon County Council council children’s services review of the case found there remained a “continuing risk” that the paedophile would sexually abuse the vulnerable girls.

A few months later the council recommended the children should be placed with other relatives or put in care if the mother wanted her relationship to carry on .

Its report noted she had “instigated the relationship” with the paedophile. Yet still the children stayed with their mother.

Then last year she made a further request for her husband – understood to have been spending an increasing amount of time with the daughters – to “stay overnight occasionally” at her home.

Her request was turned down by the council as her new partner was still deemed a risk. But within months came the astonishing U-turn.

It is understood the mother bought and installed the lock and alarm in her two-bedroom home after seeking advice from a charity that helps people affected by underage sexual abuse – including the paedophiles themselves.

A team including a social worker and solicitors visited her property last autumn and were satisfied with the measures she had taken. Her solicitor and a lawyer for the girls’ father were also present.

A family source told us: “It was decided that because there was a baby monitor in their bedroom the children could wake their mother up who could open the door for them. And they thought the alarm on the door was adequate because it couldn’t be shut off after it had been set off.”

The source also claimed the mother told the social worker the paedophile could sleep on a side of the bed which meant he would wake his partner if he got up in the night because he would have to climb over her.

Late last year, the man was given the right to stay overnight at the family’s house following a lengthy appeal to the council.

Yesterday the Council confirmed a “professionals meeting” had taken place last autumn “to discuss any areas the local authority may have missed that would help to determine (the paedophile’s) return to the family home. The professionals were of the view there are enough protective factors in place for the children.”

A spokesman later added: “Numerous reviews by a variety of agencies have concluded that his partner, who wants him to be able to stay overnight, can adequately supervise him.

“A safety plan has to be in place and his partner has to supervise contact at all times. The police have been informed and the local authority is monitoring the situation very closely with regular visits to the family home.”

The mum and the paedophile have since been living together, according to sources. When approached by the Sunday Mirror yesterday, the paedophile denied he was a sex offender, adding: “What business have you got even if I was a paedophile?”

Xenophobia: Another epic photo from South Africa

This is why I'm mad. Security forces turn their backs while their people steal from a store belonging to a foreigner. Shey if these ones don't have any sense, the police will also say they don't have sense?

As far as I am concerned, they are aiding these attacks on other blacks. Worst still, their government hasn't responded yet. Such a shame! Nothing has made me so mad in a long time. If like me, you saw that video of children tied up, beaten and gasoline poured on them, you would be mad too.

Reuben Abati responds to Punch Story - 'Jonathan demands N2trn election funds refund, audit'

The Presidential Spokesman has officially responded on behalf of the office of the president. Find it below...

The front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19 alleging that the Presidency spent a whopping N2 trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a Committee of Five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were disbursed by party members and state officials is mischievous, false and embarrassing.

The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the motives behind the story are suspicious.

The story alleges, for example, that the Presidency spent N2trillion on elections and embarked on a money-sharing spree to party

members, support groups and state officials. The authors of the story and their self-appointed megaphones further insinuate that public funds were deployed in this regard. Their allegation of a theft of public funds is extremely malicious.

How much is the budget of the Federal Government of Nigeria? The annual budget of the Federal Government is a little over N4 trillion.

The story is practically suggesting that half of the federal budget was spent on elections. This kind of reckless insinuation is meant to incite the public and instigate national crisis.

With FAAC having to do everything possible every month to ensure disbursements and with the Federal Government heavily committed to the war against terror in the North East, where is the alleged N2 trillion from the Federal purse?

President Jonathan and the People’s Democratic Party conducted the 2015 elections in strict accordance with the rule of law. The suggestion of any unlawful conduct cannot be sustained under any circumstances.

President Jonathan has done his best to protect and strengthen democracy and promote peace.

He justly deserves all the accolades that he has received from both Nigerians and the

international community for this. Certain persons and interest groups may not be happy that his profile has further risen and that his legacy is assured; but they do their country gross disservice when they act so unpatriotically.

Anyone who is engaged in imposing a crisis on the country by any means is not being fair to Nigeria. We can only appeal to the public to be wary of such reckless tactics now on display, which form the substance of an odd, malicious campaign after the elections.

We are particularly worried that since the March 28 and April 11 elections, some persons have continued to work very hard to diminish the Jonathan Presidency. They need to be reminded that the time for politics is over; it is now time to focus on the in-coming government, with emphasis on national development and moving the country forward.

Dear South Africans, you killed this man just because he was Mozambican?

Dear South Africans, you take a life just because he doesn't share same nationality as you? Shame on you as a people (for not publicly condemning this) Shame on you as a country (for not putting a stop to it). Shame on your president (for not having said anything about this so far). Shame on your security forces for standing by and allowing this to happen. Shame on the Zulu King who started this with his careless utterances. Shame on the stupid uneducated hoodlums carrying out these attacks. Miserable, lazy f*cks who blame their failure in life on foreigners, as if if all foreigners left, their lives would be better or they would be able to make a difference in their country.

Why have you South Africans who claim to be against this not taken to the streets to march against Xenophobia? Why are you not speaking out?

Why haven't your government deployed troops to the streets to stop the destruction of property and killing of innocent people - including children?

Last week they set fire to a car dealership owned by a foreigner, destroying ten cars.

There are now thousands of black foreigners living in police barracks because you've taken their source of livelihood, stolen from them and threatened to kill them.

I hope the rest of world boycotts you until you grow some sense.

700 migrants feared dead in deadliest Mediterranean ship capsize

700 migrants are feared dead after their packed 20-meter fishing boat capsized off Libya today April 19th. Reports say the migrants, whose boat was 70 miles (126 km) off the Libyan coast and 110 miles (177 km) south of the Italian island of Lampedusa, issued a distress call to Italy's coastguard who immediately instructed a nearby merchant ship to go to its aid and it was when the merchant ship arrived at the scene that the fishing boat capsized, most likely as the migrants tried to get its attention, stampeding to one side of the boat.

UNHCR spokeswoman Carlotta Sami said today's shipwreck appears to be the worst in the Mediterranean

"It seems we are looking at the worst massacre ever seen in the Mediterranean,".

Meanwhile 28 people survived the incident while 24 bodies have been recovered from the water. 17 Coastal boats are currently combing the Mediterranean to see if there are still possible survivors.

The Xenophobia Syndrome - by Charly Boy

Here's Charly Boy's take on the Xenophobic attacks happening in South Africa currently. Read below

I am not feeling good today. Perhaps I got up on the wrong side of the bed. But the bad news from my telephone conversation with my granddaughter who is an undergraduate in Mauritius last week could be a factor. She expressed her deep concerns regarding safety in her country of study, highlighting strings of attacks on foreigners.

I have been most worried about the too much bickering and guarding of territory stories making the rounds. It appears Xenophobia is becoming the mass ideology of the century.

The events of the past 2weeks in South Africa and indeed other parts of the world have got me really thinking.

Nigerians who live in Western/European countries complain about racism and being second-class citizens in their host countries.

Britain is making anti-immigration laws and tightening its borders everyday because they believe they are being overwhelmed by the increasing demand to create opportunities for its teeming immigrants, neglecting its own.

Japanese government, having become extremely worried by this hostile anti-foreigner development, is keen to attract millions of new tourists and business visitors to Japan over the next decade; but with "Don't come to Japan if you're a foreigner" clause.

This is the message from many Japanese hotels in a recent survey conducted by the Japanese Ministry for Tourism. Haba!

Even in our own Nigeria, we see pockets of tribal and religious Xenophobia here and there. Isn't that really insane? For instance, just before the recently concluded presidential elections, there was a mad exodus, people leaving the cities for their villages due to fear of the unknown. This fatal inhibition cannot be divorced from the spreading of unguarded comments and positions which evoked fear in the hearts of most Nigerians; pitching us against one another. Na wah!

Is it therefore any wonder at the extremity of our own African brothers in the South meting out the worst treatments on their fellow Africans? Hmmmnnn!

South Africa is experiencing one of its worse case of xenophobic syndrome simply because they believe that foreigners are taking away their luck and their jobs.

I do strongly believe this is a wake-up call to everyone that, if we believe, our land can still be green. To begin to look homeward and think of ways to make this our home (Nigeria) better and truly standout like the giant it’s meant to be. I think it is high time our leaders began to look inward, create a life for our teeming population and make Nigeria a proud home where citizens are not looking to run away (even when running away means being a 3rd class or no class citizen at destination).

What is it that we lack that we cannot begin to focus on our diversity which is the core strength that we have and use it to create a world where our children will be happy and proud to live in? Truth be told, so long as we continue to ignore our youths who I still believe are the life wire of this nation; so long as we continue to encourage brain drain and capital flight by running to and developing other countries instead of ours, the story will continue to be that of raising another man’s child. No matter how long you keep that child and nurture it, the DNA can never confirm the child as yours.

As we all anticipate a positively impacting CHANGE, I look forward to a Nigeria where her honourable youths, leaders and indeed every citizen will rise up and build the nation of our dream. A nation where we will sincerely fight corruption, tribal and religious sentiments as well as all other things that create the divide and focus on the one thing we have in common, NIGERIA/Poverty.

Let the ties that bind us be NATIONAL PATRIOTISM or nothing.

Collective fear stimulates herd instinct and tends to produce beef/hate towards those who are not regarded as members of the herd.

Let this not be a piece you read and do nothing about, let it inspire you to begin the change from your individual space. To think that your being poor or less privileged is because someone else (foreign to you) is rich and doing well is the actual meaning of Xenophobia.

Think, then let me know what you think....
