The Senate Joint Committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill has said it is engaging the services of experts and consultants to help it reach an acceptable consensus on the bill.
Following the new posture, the committee organised a workshop on Monday to collate the opinions of experts on the contents of the bill.
The Chairman of the committee, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, said the forum was intended to give update information on the bill before the scheduled public hearing.
"We are engaging the services of professionals to enlighten us on the bill once more so that when we go out for public hearings in various locations, we will be versed in everything concerning the bill,” he said.
The areas that members needed help, he said, bordered on the powers of the President and the Minister of Petroleum Resources over award and lease of oil blocks.
