Three men were on Thursday arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate's court, Lagos State, for allegedly producing and selling adulterated trado-medical products of Yem-kem International and Bang Amos and Limited.
Christopher Onu,32, Egbe Emmanuel,28A and Chinedu Nweke, 28 were said to have been caught at 47 Engineer Roy Street, Ijan Ishefun Ayobo, Lagos with Osomo Bitters and Ogidiga African Liquor.
They were arraigned on three counts of adulteration and forgery
The prosecutor, Inspector ASP One, told the Magistrate, Mrs. M.B Folami, that the accused were caught with 20 gallons of Oshomo products, 30 cartons of Ogidiga, a generator and a gas cooker, among other things, which they used to process the adulterated products.
The charge sheet read in part, "That you, Egbe Emmanuel, and Chinedu Nweke, m, on the 16thof May, 2013 at about 3.00pm at No 47 Engineer Roy Street, Ijan Ishefun Ayobo Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire together to adulterate Ogidiga African Liquor and Osomo Bitters, Products of Bang Amos and Company Limited and Yem-kem International Limited.
"That you, Egbe Emmanuel and Chinedu Nweke, on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did forge label of Bang Amos and Company Limited and Yem-kem International Limited."
The offence was said to have contravened sections 409 and 158 (2) of the criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The men pleaded not guilty to the three counts.
There was however a little interruption in the proceeding, as two lawyers argued over who would represent the three defendants.
The two later agreed to share them, and appealed to the magistrate to grant the accused bail in the most liberal terms.
Folami ruled that for the accused to be admitted on bail, they must pay N500,000 each with two responsible sureties in like sum
