President Goodluck Jonathan and the Northern states Governors' Forum on Thursday mourned the death of the Deputy Chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, Maj.-Gen. Mamman Kontagora (retd.).
Jonathan said he received with shock the news of the death of the death.
A statement by presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, said Jonathan, on behalf of himself, the Federal Government and all Nigerians, extended condolences to the late General's family, the Kontagora Emirate Council, Governor Babangida Aliyu and all the people of Niger State.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by the Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, is to represent the President at General Kontagora's interment.
The northern governors equally mourned the death of Kontagora (retd.), described Kontangora's demise as a colossal loss to Niger State in particular and the nation in general.
The NSGF chairman and Governor of Niger State, Aliyu, expressed the forum's condolence in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo on Thursday.
