Information Technology firm, Tsaboin, has identified the potential of using technology to solve traffic problems in the country.
The firm said in a statement on Friday that it had developed 'Traffic Talk' which is an Internet-based social utility that helps road users in Lagos beat traffic. This is one of the firm's free services.
The firm, in its first quarter traffic report, explained that it informed road users about the road and traffic conditions reported by users like them, thereby providing information with which they could make smarter decisions about routes to take.
The firm said, "Traffic Talk is a convergence of road traffic related issues and users would not have to swim across a pool of random information before they get to the shore of the vital information they need to make their commuting faster and easier.
"In summary, it's a platform where you can know what lies ahead of you before you set out or even start your day."
In the first quarter of 2013, the firm said popular trends of traffic updates points to busy routes like Palmgrove due to the convergence of commuters hopping on the BRT, tickets purchase and events happening with the yellow buses and the union.
According to the firm, the Third Mainland Bridge is one of the busiest routes during the period as it is a major link to the Island from mainland.
Between January and March this year, the firm said Anthony Isale received more traffic reports than any other bus-stops in the state probably because of its strategic location, intersecting movements along Ikorodu road and Oworonshoki-Oshodi-Apapa route.
It added, "Other popular routes include Alausa because it intercepts Oshodi,Oworonshoki, Ikeja which are busy routes around the city and Third Mainland Bridge because it is the major and busiest link from Lagos Island, Victoria Island to Lagos Mainland."
