The Lagos State Government says the most innovative student in energy sourcing, conservation and consumption will be named 2013 Power Kid.

A statement by the State Electricity Board on Thursday, said the crowning of the power kid, to be done by Governor Babatunde Fashola, would signal the end of this year's Power Kids Club programme.

According to the statement, the programme ran for 10 weeks for top 30 junior public secondary schools that received the Governor's Education Award for state schools in 2012.

The statement added that 20 students from each of the 30 schools were selected for the programme that harnessed their creativity and imagination.

General Manager, LSEB, Mrs. Damilola Ogunbiyi, said, "The essence of this is improving the knowledge of secondary school students about electricity and its different sources, alternative forms of energy, energy conservation, and how to calculate energy consumption among others.

"The power kids' award scheduled for May 14 is to reward the students and their schools for their hard work. Governor Babatunde  Fashola  will crown the overall power kid and the winning school."
