Action Congress of Nigeria chief, Mr. Abiola Olowu, has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar manko, to probe an attack on him and his friends at Iga Oba-Ibeju area of the state.
In the petition signed by Olowu's counsel, Kemi Omotoso and Associates, the politician urged Manko to investigate the attack with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice and to serve as deterrent to others.
The petition read in part, "At about 6.48pm, Engr. Olowu, who was in company with his friends, Mr. Gabriel and Mr. Tunde Giwa, was attacked by some men armed with guns and machetes, charms and some other dangerous weapons.
"Our client managed to escape with minor injuries, but his aforementioned friends sustained serious and severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Iberekodo Hospital, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
"The assailants also caused serious damage to a Toyota Corolla saloon car with number plate AKD11AV belonging to the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council, under the care of Mr. Akeem Ishola who is the current majority leader of the council.
"Fortunately, after our client escaped, his friends who are currently hospitalized, recognised some individuals as some of the perpetrators of this attack."
Olowu alleged that the attack by the thugs on April, 28, 2013 at the celebration of Oju-Owa Festival in Iga Oba-Ibeju town was politically motivated.
