LAGOS State Government has tasked event planners in the state to be safety conscious.
At stakeholder forum organised by Lagos State Safety Commission Friday in Lagos, Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Wale Ahmed, said the need for the warning could not be overemphasised as there was need to imbibe safety precautions in the manner in which events were conducted in the state.
Director General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Mrs. Dominga Odebunmi, said event planning required zero tolerance for risky behaviour.
"Event planning is a very serious business and should be the exclusive preserve of professionals who understand the need to apply due diligence while conducting their affairs. Let us ensure that we all work towards ensuring that we attain the zero tolerance for unsafe acts at these centres and work places, " she said.
Secretary of Lagos State Hotel Licensing Authority, Mrs. Aduke Gomez, reiterated the commitment of the present administration at reducing risks linked with the events industry in the state.
