Probe supplementary budget

Johnson Alabi, N5/2074, Bode Wasimi, Ibadan, Oyo State, +23480230261: I wonder how the Federal Government is going to spend the supplementary budget of N161bn between last week, when the National Assembly approved the supplementary budget and December 31, 2012, when all unspent monies were expected to be returned to the national treasury by all government agencies. How are we sure the greater part of the N161bn will not go into private hands in an attempt to exhaust the whole money before the expiry date of December 31. The supplementary budget did not serve the purpose for which it was meant for, which was to cushion the effect of the lingering fuel scarcity in the country. Till date, fuel scarcity has ravaged the entire country, especially during the festive period. Many petrol dealers did not receive a litre of petrol to sell throughout December 2012. Then, where is the effect of the supplementary budget of N161bn? The National Assembly should probe the amount spent so far from the N161bn and for what purpose, the government agency responsible for the spending and the balance left and where it was returned to.
