Netherland Police To Drop Charge Against Ofehe, The Nigerian Activist
Dec 31st 2012, 04:49

L. N. Stempher and G. R. C. Veurink, DUTCH police prosecutors, have indicated their intention to withdraw one of the charges against Nigerian activist and founder of Holland-based Hope for Niger Delta Campaign, HNDC, Comrade Sunny Ofehe, who is facing terrorism charges in The Netherlands, for lack of sufficient evidence.
In a letter dated December 10, 2012, and addressed to the investigative judge, Mr. Havik, and Ofehe's solicitors, Mr. Manders and Pennings, written in Dutch, the prosecutor said, "in continuation of the investigation of the case against Mr. Ofehe, we have had to make a new translation of the wire tap conversations.
"This new translation, in combination with the testimony of a witness' declaration, has now made us to withdraw the fifth charge "causing explosion," out of the indictment."

According to the prosecutor: "We cannot call the witness, Mr. Umueri, who lives in Nigeria to come to testify. Through the intervention of the Ministry of Security and Justice, we have been informed that the safety of this witness will be put in danger should he come and testify in a terrorism case.
"We, therefore, do not have sufficient evidence to press for the number 5 charge. We advise you to proceed with the court hearing where we will ask for the charge to be dropped."-Vanguard
