WDTBAM: Agnes Awotunsin wins N1m

Winning Who Deserves to be a Millionaire, an edition of the popular game show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, has made Mrs. Agnes Awotunsin, a millionaire.

Awotunsin is the widow of the slain journalist, Tayo Awotunsin, who was a member of the editorial board of the Champion Newspapers.

Mr. Awotunsin was abducted from the Nigerian Embassy in Monrovia and killed while on an assignment to report the carnage in that country and Sierra Leone and the danger it posed to the West African region in the early 1990s.

He was said to have been buried in Liberia alongside other victims of the conflict. But his wife, Agnes, and children, could not see his corpse.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Awotusin, on whose shoulders the burden of caring for the children rested, was struck with stroke two years ago and her medical condition went from bad to worse.

The producers of the programme had felt the woman should be a part of the game show in order to raise money for her.

Comedian MC Abbey and actress, Toyin Aimakhu, assisted her in the game. In the end, she won N1m.

WWTBAM is sponsored by MTN.
