I received with a heavy heart news of your departure from earth few minutes ago, I was utterly distraught as I looked forward to meeting you again when next I visit London.

I met Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy for the first and last time during London 2012 Olympics in August at the Nigeria stand located in Africa Village, South Kensington, London. A pleasant soft spoken woman who took me down the memory lane on how she started art work and her achievements…
AUGUST 2012: The Blogger With Chinwe Chukwuogo-Roy At The Nigeria Stand In Africa Village, South Kensington During London 2012 Olympics - In The Middle One of Her Grand Children

I remember vividly when you brought out a Scottish pound and I knew for the very first time "Ifako", a city in Lagos was mentioned on one side of the legal tender as part of Mary Slessor's movements in Nigeria.

You told me you never went to any formal school to learn drawing when you started drawing way back in Nigeria, that you just started drawing. You also told me how you got recognised by the former head of state, Gen. Yakubu Gowon when as a young Secondary School lady you presented him a painting of him which he highly appreciated.

You mentioned to me about how you made a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II during a commonwealth competition and your work was selected from the whole lots as the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, commissioned to mark the Golden Jubilee.
