Participants at a public colloquium in Lagos on Friday raised the alarm over the increasing rate of kidnapping and general level of insecurity in the country.

The participants, drawn from the private and public sectors, as well as the media, spoke at the lecture entitled, 'Treating the Threats to National Security: Socio-Political Cum Ethno-Religious Perspectives.'

The programme featured the launch of a book: 'Cry for Change,' written by Biodun-Thomas Davids, a Lagos-based journalist.

Davids urged the Federal Government to address “grey areas” aggravating the state of insecurity and such issues bordering on arms proliferation in the country.

He said, “The FG should live up to the expectation of Nigerians by ensuring that the security of lives and property of the citizenry is guaranteed.”
