A former aide of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Sani Indabawa, has warned that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party is at the risk of self-liquidation.
Indabawa, at a retreat on capacity for officers of the PDP in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, said the party's strength would be guaranteed as long as it was able to organise around what he described as the 'big idea.'
He said that except the PDP embraced changes, it might become extinct in no time.
Indabawa said, “If positive changes are not initiated and vigorously pursued, the PDP stands the risk of self-liquidation; after all, it is becoming self-evident that, the only serious opposition to PDP is PDP itself.”
Wondering why premium was not given to quality when the party elected its officials, Indabawa noted that it was evident that those who enjoyed unlimited authority in the party hated competent party activists because the latter were inclined to be independent-minded and so they could not be manipulated to blindly offer themselves as slaves to narrow interests of the emerging authorities.
