The Executive Director of Kudirat Initiative for Democracy, Amy Oyekunle, has urged communities and individuals in the country to ensure that local governments in their areas are called to account for projects to ensure even development.

Oyekunle said this in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday at a stakeholders' forum to inaugurate the KIND partnership with selected councils in the state on social accountability.

She explained that the project, which would take place in Ikere, Ekiti West, Moba, Emure and Efon, was in response to the calls for an effective approach of engaging government at the local level to ensure development and accountability.

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Integration and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs. Bunmi Dipo-Salami, noted that the state government's collaboration with KIND would enhance development and improve harmonious relationship between the people and government.

According to her, the project is aimed at building a bridge between the people and government.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Gender Empowerment and Social Development, Mrs. Fola Richie-Adewusi, said the KIND project cut across the eight-point agenda of the Governor Kayode Fayemi -led administration.
