The good

Alakija is Africa's richest woman

Not a few were taken aback when foremost socialite, Folorunsho Alakija, was listed as Africa's richest woman by Forbes. She is one of the pioneers of the fashion industry in Nigeria.

Leke Alder remarries

Foremost brand consultant and public relations expert, Leke Alder remarried this year. This bold step came four years after his marriage to his ex-wife Lola was officially over. His new bride, Morenikeji Popoola, is also a top professional.

Osaze Odemwingie marries

Star striker, Osaze Odemwingie finally tied the nuptial knots this year after months of speculations. His bride, Sarah Fallon, is currently undergoing the nine-month course and is expected to be delivered of a baby early next year.

 

The bad, the ugly

Kris Okotie splits

Stylish cleric, Pastor Chris Okotie, of the Household of God Church, separated from his wife of four years, Stephanie Henshaw. The news came as a surprise to many who had thought they were a match made in heaven.  Until date, Okotie has refused to reveal the circumstances that led to the separation.

Dejo Richards' marriage crashes

Previously married to A- list actor, Monalisa Chinda, Dejo Richards' less than 14 months old to America based Olamide crashed irretrivably. 

Toyin Amzat murdered

Former Ikeja local government chairman, Dr. Toyin Hamzat, was assassinated by yet to be known people.  He met his premature death in Ogun State, where he was shot at a close range.

Joseph Benjamin's reveals split

Not many people knew that presenter, actor, and model Joseph Benjamin was married until he spilled the beans himself. However, he chose to do it by making it known that the union was no longer in existence though it had produced two children.

Connie Madubuko's death

Married to Pastor Anslem Madubuko of the Revival Assembly, Connie passed on after she suffered a heart attack.

Temi Harriman's losses

The outgoing year was not a pleasant one for Hon. Temi Harriman. This year alone, her son, Aboyowa who was in his 20s, died in an auto crash. A few months later, her father, Chief Hope Harriman, died after an unsuccessful surgery.

Remi Lagos quits the stage

This year, one of Nigeria's most brilliant designers, Remi Osholake, aka Remi Lagos, died. She passed on in a London hospital after suffering from cancer of the uterus.

Angela Onyeador too

Arts enthusiast, Angela Onyeador died on June 19, 2012, and her remains were interred in Lagos.
