BY PETER OKUTU

ABAKALIKI – EBONYI State police command said, yesterday, that it had begun investigation into the existence and ownership of a purported militant training camp where youths were being trained on how to unleash mayhem in the state during the yuletide period.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Sule, who stated this while briefing newsmen in his office, noted that the command after receiving intelligence reports concerning the strange development, intensified efforts to uncover the location of the training camp and arrest the proprietors and trainees in the camp.

Sule, while warning those running the camp to desist forthwith, also urged parents to advise their wards to be law abiding, stressing that the Police will not fail to deal decisively with anybody caughtfomenting trouble in the state.

"The Police is still carrying out investigation to uncover the location of the training camp and we will dismantle them if they are in existence, while perpetrators will be brought to book no matter how highly placed such individuals may be."

The Commissioner also assured motorists and commuters plying Abakaliki-Enugu road during the yuletide period of adequate security of their lives and property, adding that the command had put new

strategies in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order, especially around the Ezza-Ezilo axis of the state.

He also advised business men not to keep large sums of money in their business premises or residents as this would attract criminals.

"They should endeavour to move their money to the banks as soon as possible to discourage robbers from attacking them. The public should also be alert and not fail to avail the police with any useful information that will help the police to fight crime and criminality in the state," he said.
