The remains of the late justice of the Supreme Court, Kayode Eso, were interred in Ilesa, his hometown, on Friday, amid eulogies from prominent Nigerians.
Eso, described by relatives and sympathisers as an icon in the country's judiciary, died in a London hospital.
Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who received the remains of the late legal luminary at Asejire, on Thursday, described the death of Eso as a colossal loss to the country.
Delivering a sermon at the funeral service held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cathedral, Omofe, Ilesa, the Primate, Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, said the generality of Nigerian leaders loved money more than their countrymen.
In the sermon entitled, 'Life as an Investment,' the cleric said all mortals must be prepared to give stewardship of their deeds on earth.
He said, "Let the congregation here know that there is no abiding city on earth. It is appointed to all human beings to die once and after death comes judgement."
Explaining that every leader must be a servant, Okoh said that Nigeria needed deliverance from all forms of evil besetting it.
Some of the dignitaries present at the service included: Aregbesola; Minister of State for Defence, Mrs. Olusola Obada; Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; former Chairan, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and Other Related Offences, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola; and Osun Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori.
