Star promises iPads, head phones in new promo

A few weeks after Star Lager beer inaugurated Star Music, it has unveiled a consumer promotion themed Star League – Text & Play. Officials of Nigeria Breweries Plc, manufacturers of the product, say the treat is another avenue for consumers to display their creativity as they drink the beer.

According to the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries plc,  Mr. Walter Drenth, the brand has continued to keep its consumers actively engaged all year round through its  consumer engagement platforms that cut through music, football and consumer promotions. Apart from Star Music, he identified Shine On and Star Time to Shine as among such. He, however, says Star League Text & Pay bears a different promise.

Drenth knows, "It is an innovative platform where consumers will be actively engaged throughout the duration of the promotion, while they stand the chance to win exciting prizes in the process. It is unique, interesting and different."

Scheduled to run from April 2nd to May 31st, 2013, the promotion is crown cork based, as it is under the crown of the bottle that participants will locate tickets for the game.

"The crown corks will have codes with differentiated points in five bands of 10pts, 20pts, 30pts, 40pts and 200pts. To participate, consumers will send, by SMS, the code under the crown cork with their full name, age and state of residence to short code 30383, E he adds.

… as 10 are shortlisted for Golden Pen Award

 With final results expected on April 5, 10 journalists and seven photojournalists have been shortlisted for the 2012 Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award. According to the organisers, the winner of the award, which seeks to "recognise and reward objective reportage of Nigerian Breweries events".

Those shortlisted for the NB 2012 Journalist of the Year include Sylva Emeka- Okereke of Champion Newspapers, Jimi David of The Nation Newspapers, Gregory Austin Nwakunor of The Guardian the late Cletus Nwachukwu also of the Guardian. Also on the list are  Linda Ugwuoti of Business World, Moses Kadiri of Nigerian Compass, Wale Alabi of The Nation and LanreOdukoya of ThisDay.

Those shortlisted for the photo Journalist of the year include Kingston Daniel of Champion Newspapers, Stanley Ogidi and SegunBakare of The PUNCH, Sunday Adigun of ThisDay, Pius Okeosisi of BusinessDay, Suleiman Hussein of Nigerian Compass and AdewaleOjele of Daily Independent.

"The Journalist of the year would smile home with a cash prize of N500, 000, a 64GB Apple ipad and a plaque. The first and second runner ups in this category will go home with N250,000,Apple ipad and plaque and N200,000 respectively. The winner of the Photojournalist of the year will get N250,000, a 64 GB Apple ipad and a plaque while the 1st and 2nd runner up in this category  N200,000,Apple ipad and plaque as well as N150,000,Apple ipad and plaque respectively.

The award jury is led by Dr. YemiOgunbiyi and comprises Prof Ralph Akinfeleye, Mrs. Nkechi Ali Balogun and Gbenga Adefaye.
