Yakowa urges Christians to pray for peace
Dec 2nd 2012, 19:08

Kaduna – Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State on Sunday reiterated call on Christians and adherents of other religions to continue to pray for peace in the state and the country as a whole.

The governor, represented by the Director, Bureau for Religious Affairs, Mr Barnabas Aliyu,  made the call at the Annual Thanksgiving Celebration of the All Nations Christian Assembly of Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.

He said the administration was committed to ensuring peace, security and unity in the state, which he noted were critical to the  development of any society.

Yakowa urged the church to discourage its members against reprisals whenever an attack occurred anywhere in the state.

The governor said there was no alternative to peaceful coexistence and urged the general public to always support security agents with vital information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the society.

In a remark, the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Samuel Kujiyat, reminded Christians on the need to always thank God for His mercies.

He said that Thanksgiving opened doors for more blessings.

Earlier, the Resident Minister of the Church, Pastor Raymond Gobum also spoke on the essence of thanksgiving, saying people should imbibe the habit of sacrificing their time and resources to the service of God and humanity. (NAN)
