Chairman, Yaba Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, Alhaji Olajide Jimoh, has said his council will continue to take care of the elderly people in his domain.
To this extent, he said the council paid N10, 000 monthly allowance each to 100 elderly persons aged 70 years and above.
Jimoh said the financial implication this had on the council in three years ran into N36m.
He stated this during a stakeholders' summit, with the theme, 'The Journey So Far' in Lagos on Friday.
The council boss urged the stakeholders in the area to pay their taxes and rates as and when due to enable the LCDA to shore up its revenue for the accelerated development of the area.
Jimoh said, “Also, about 180 youths and women were trained in various skills to make them self-dependent. More so, 600 youths were employed through various revenue boards while a number of women were empowered with some farm produce.
“This administration also established Yaba LCDA Complaints and Job Creation Centre to open up various opportunities for job and scholarship for young ones.”
