Vigilante outfit seeks partnership with Lagos
Dec 3rd 2012, 21:20

A security outfit, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, has urged Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to partner with to reduce the crime rate in the state to zero level.

Speaking, yesterday, in his office at Ejigbo, the Lagos State VGN Commander, Prince Ademola Akerepa, said his organisation was ready to complement the efforts of the state government in making the state a real centre of excellence in every aspect of life, especially security.

He said: "We will like to appeal to the governor to consider partnering with VGN and assign it a particular responsibility as far as security is concerned; right from the grassroots.

"I can assure you that within one year of our recognition and partnership with the state government, our achievements would be so much that other states would be willing to pay any amount to learn how Lagos is doing it."

Akerepa said when his group earlier attempted to meet with the state governor for introduction, it was directed to his Special Adviser on Security Matters, who in turn advised it should go and work first before any consideration.

He said: "That was in February. We have since been working and records of our brilliant performances with the police speak volumes of our competence and seriousness in security matters."
