MOPA—FIVE years after the demise of former Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Chief Sunday Awoniyi, family members, friends, political associates on Sunday gathered at First Baptist Church, Ileteju, Mopa, headquarter of Mopamuro Local Government Area to celebrate his sterling qualities.
Governor Idris Wada, who led other speakers as they poured encomiums on the late politician, noted that the event was a celebration of a life well spent, describing him as one of the pillars of the nation's present democracy and a great leader of the state, the north and Nigeria at large.
Wada, a Muslim, who started his speech by saying 'Praise the Lord' which elicited thunderous response from the congregation, noted that the large turn out of personalities spoke volume of the life Awoniyi lived and how he touched the lives of many.
