Chrisland College, Idimu, Lagos beat Atlantic Hall, Lagos to take the coveted trophy at the second edition of the Chrisland Soccer Fiesta in Lagos.

The soccer fiesta, which took place at the sports ground of Chrisland College, Idimu, is an initiative of Chrisland Educational Organisation and in line with the group's policy of raising a total child. It is organised annually to discover future soccer talents.    It was birthed at the instance of High Chief Winifred Awosika, who has been an avid sports enthusiast from her youth.

The football fiesta, which was colourful and entertaining, showcased a number of budding talents who displayed skills that were reminiscent of professional football players.

A statement signed by the Business Development Manager, Mr. Jide Onigbogi, said important personalities, dignitaries and sports enthusiasts were all on ground to grace the highly competitive fiesta.

The schools that participated are Chrisland College, Idimu, Atlantic Hall, Corona Schools, Dowen College, White Sands, Green Springs, Grace Schools, Supreme Educational Foundation, Avi Ceena School, Legacy College, Doregos Private Academy, Chrisland School VGC and Chrisland School, Opebi.

Eight of these schools qualified for the second round of the tournament. They are Atlantic Hall, Dowen College, Supreme Educational Foundation, Chrisland High School, White sands, Avi Cena, Doregos Private Academy and Chrisland College.

The final match between the defending champions, Atlantic Hall, and last year's silver medallists, Chrisland College, was like history repeating itself. Both sides had doggedly played their way to the finals by edging out other participating schools in the highly competitive and keenly contested matches.

After a game that was filled with twists and turns and rewarding goals, Atlantic Hall at last bowed to the prowess of a determined Chrisland College, Idimu, who dominated the midfield to take the well-coveted trophy as the winner of the match.  The first edition of the soccer fiesta took place in November last year.
