Senator, representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Mr. Gyang Pwajok, has approached the Court of Appeal in Jos seeking to appeal an order of a Federal High Court which sacked him from the upper chambers of the National Assembly.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola in Abuja on Thursday nullified Pwajok's election following a suit filed by the Congress for Progressive Change and its candidate in the October 6 by-election in Plateau North. He also asked Pwajok and Mrs. Kaneng Fulani, who replaced her husband in the Barakin Ladi state constituency, to stop parading themselves as lawmakers.
The plaintiffs had complained they were excluded from the election.
The two seat became vacant following the death of the former incumbents, Dr. Gyang Dantong and Gyang Fulani in a sectarian violence on July 8, 2012.
Pwajok told our correspondent in an interview in Jos on Sunday that he found the judgment very bizarre and had decided to seek a higher judicial interpretation.
He expressed surprise that the judge, apart from not signing the judgement, went beyond his briefs by giving a consequential order when he had admitted that he lacked the powers to annul an election.
