Old Trafford Squash Club, Ikoyi scored an important victory on Sunday when they hosted and defeated the Ikoyi Club Squash Section 5-4 in an action-packed friendly encounter.
It appeared initially the host would have a smooth sailing when Larry Ettah, the Chairman of the Old Trafford Squash Club and Group Managing Director of UAC of Nigeria Plc, wasted no time in conquering Biyi Mabadeje in their first game. Every member of the host team was however put on the edge when Sope Roberts and Olumide Sojinrin of Ikoyi Club defeated Chike Eze-Agbabu and Funmi Bamkole in quick succession.
Ettah expressed satisfaction with the level of the friendly match and commended all the players for displaying incredible dexterity game after game.
"Everybody put up a very good performance. The standard of the game was high. It was a tight one but we were able to confirm our superiority over our visitors. I commend their effort," Ettah said.
He further explained that the friendly encounter was conceived to provide a platform for members of the two clubs to sharpen their skills and also engender camaraderie.
