NRC Commences: Lagos To Kano Mass Transit Train Service

Business News (Transport) — Mr Adeseyi Sijuwade, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, in Lagos disclosed to news men on Friday, that the Lagos to Kano mass

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

transit train service would begin operations on December 20, 2012.
Mr. Sijuwade, made this announcement at the first management retreat of the corporation which was held at Lekki, Lagos.

Furthermore, he revealed that, the rehabilitation of the tracks from Lagos to Kano, including bridges and culverts has been completed.
Sijuwade assured commuters that the Train service from Lagos to Kano or Kano to Lagos will be safe and cheap during the yuletide.
"This formal launch would be announced soon to ensure the resumption of full inter-state mass transit services along the rail tracks on weekdays," he said.
Sijuwade promised tight security would be put in place comprising of the police and Man-O-War before the commencement of the service.
The Managing Director also said the rehabilitation of eastern railway lines terminating at Maiduguri was in progress, adding that trains would convey on the corridor in 2013.
He stated that the retreat was aimed at bringing out the potential of the NRC.
One of the aims and objectives of the transit train service are for strategic management of assets and facilities of the corporation in line with the organization's vision and mission.-Osundefender
