Sagir-JTF_THE Joint Task Force (JTF), in combined three-day operations in five different wards and areas in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, has killed four Boko Haram sub-commanders, including two experts in the manufacture of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and petrol-bombs.

A cache of arms and ammunitions was also recovered from the sect's hideouts.

This was disclosed Friday in Maiduguri in a statement by the JTF spokesman, Lt. Col Sagir Musa, and made available to The Guardian.

Musa said the success was due to additional information made available to it in the course of the operations to fish out terrorists.

The recovered arms and ammunition, according to the statement, include five units of Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, 11 AK 47 rifle empty magazines, a G3 rifle, 176 assorted ammunition, 24 units of primed IEDs gas cylinders, a dozen IED remote control switches, six assorted IED and incendiary materials and chemicals and 15 small primed IED cans.

The statement added: "All the recovered items are planned to be used by the terrorists for operation "Black Christmas" aimed at disrupting a peaceful Christmas celebration in Borno State."

The statement also disclosed that the operations were conducted at Sabon Gari, Sabon Layin Gwange, Dala Zajeri, Biafra and Suleimanti areas of Maiduguri metropolis, leading to the death of the four in a shootout with the JTF, while two soldiers were wounded.
