The 2012 edition of the ipNX Rookies Basketball Tournament started on Wednesday at the Police College, Ikeja, with 14 teams from Lagos and Delta states participating in three age-grade categories.
In the day's opening games, Rookies U-14 men's team defeated High Flyers, Warri 23-22 while Raptors Academy humbled Rookies Academy 28-19 in the U-16 men's category.
High Flyers again suffered its second defeat in the U-14 category losing 20-17 to Raptors Academy while Warriors Academy scooped a 38-30 points win over Raptors Team-B in the U-18 event.
Action continues on Thursday as the women U-18 teams are expected to have a taste of basketball action.
The competition according to tournament coordinator, Mark Balogun, will end on Sunday to enable the players and their handlers enjoy December 31 with their families.
