The comments of President Goodluck Jonathan on the Nigerian Navy's Agusta helicopter that crashed on December 15, 2012 gives credence to the saying that "when beggars die there are no comets seen. The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes." As if they were not human beings, the names of Dauda Tsoho, Warrant Officer Mohammed Kamai, Commander Muritala Daba and Lt. Adeyemi Sowole were ignored by the president while paying tributes to those who lost their lives in the crash at Okoroba, Bayelsa State. What is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander.

It has taken the deaths of Kaduna State Governor, Patrick Yakowa, and former National Security Adviser, Gen. Owoye Azazi, in a helicopter crash for Nigerians to know that all is not well with the Nigerian Navy air squadron. We are being ruled by nonchallant leaders and officials who don't care whether public institutions operate optimally or not. For how long will this continue?
