Falana seeks Demuren's sack over Dana crash
Dec 23rd 2012, 21:09

FalanaMONTHS after the Dana Airline crash in Lagos, human rights campaigner, Femi Falana (SAN), has called for the prosecution of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren, for what he called conspiracy and criminal negligence.

Falana also called for the removal from office of the Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Oduah, for lifting the ban on Dana flights. The human rights lawyer has also called for the immediate payment of all legitimate entitlements to the widows of all the victims of the September 21, 1996, military plane crash at Ejigbo, Lagos, in which 103 military officers were killed.

Falana, who based his call on the report of the House of Representatives' investigation into the Dana crash, noted that the report has clearly shown that if Demurin and some officials of the Aviation Ministry had performed their duties by taking necessary precautionary decisions on Dana Airlines, based on bad technical reports on the operation of the airline, which had been in NCAA's possession, the crash could have been prevented.
