Encomiums As Eso Goes Home

EsoEMINENT Nigerians, including the political and economic class, the Bench and the Bar, Friday converged at Ilesa in Osun State to bid the former Supreme Court Justice, Justice Babakayode Eso farewell as his body was laid to rest in his hometown.

In his homily, the head of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, Primate Nikolas D. Okoh, lamented that unless Nigerians realize that there is value beyond money, the problem of corruption and graft will be difficult for any government to tackle.

He urged Nigerians to place the interest of the country at heart instead of the pursuit of material wealth which he said had done grave damage to the image of the society

The clergy spoke at the Cathedral of Holy Trinity, Omofe, Ilesa the venue of the funeral service held for the late Eso. He described the late Justice as a jurist of the helpless and champion of justice in all ramifications.

 

According to Okoh, the only way the country can immortalized the late jurist is to always allow justice to prevail in all situations and to strive hard to eliminate corruption from the system.

The priest also described death in his sermon as a gateway to fullness of life, especially for those who led pious lives.

He called on the people to emulate Eso by investing their lives and times in things that will endure and help humanity to advance the  development of the entire country.

His words,"Every parent should be encouraged to raise great leaders for the country by inculcating moral values in their children for greater tomorrow."

Eminenmt personalities present at the occasion included the host governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; his Ekiti State counterpart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Oyo State Governor, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi who was represented by his wife, Florence; former Ekiti State governor, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo; Osun State Deputy governor,Titi Laoye –Tomori and the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN).

Others are former,the Acting Minister of Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada; former Minister of justice, Prince Bola Ajibola; General Alani Akinrinade (rtd), Chief Olabode George and former chairman of the Independence Corrupt Practices and Relayed Offences Commission, (ICPC), Justice Emmanuel Olayinka Olayinka; Justice Ilori, Justice Tunde Oluborode and the Acting Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Gloria Olagoke among others.
