Eight governors are to attend the 50th birthday party of Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State which holds today.
This was made known in Uyo on Friday in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah.
The governors include Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Theodore Orji of Abia State, Abdullaziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara State, and Ibrahim Shehu Shema of Katsina State.
Others are Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, and Ojo Maduekwe, Nigeria's Ambassador to Canada.
The Commissioner said the governor's family would attend a thanksgiving service to thank God for keeping the governor up to the age of 50 after which a birthday dinner would be hosted for invited guests and friends.
He stated that the Oni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe; and the Paramount Ruler of Ikot Abasi and Chairman, Akwa Ibom Council of Traditional Rulers, Edidem Udo Joe Ntuk Obom XII were also expected at the occasion.
Umanah added that Akpabio would attend a Special Golden Jubilee Lecture on December 10, to be chaired by a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Salihu Alfa Belgore at the Le'Meridien Ibom Hotel.
