The Transition Monitoring Group has declared that the evil of corruption, which has hindered Nigeria's progress since independence, is currently at its peak.
The Deputy Chairperson of the TMG, Hajia Linota Goroso-Giwa, said this at a news conference, in Abuja, on Friday.
In a text entitled, 'State of the Nigerian Nation', the TMG noted that the country was burdened by many unresolved problems, particularly the surge in corruption, which it described as troubling.
The group said it was troubled by the latest findings of Transparency International's rating on corruption, which placed Nigeria as the 35th most corrupt nation in the world.
It expressed sadness that the report coincided with a time our legislature is engaged in an unending number of probes including that the House probe of the Security and Exchange Commission and the Faruk Lawal fuel subsidy saga.
