Consolidated Hallmark rewards winners of essay competition

As part of efforts to promote insurance practice and professionalism in the industry, Consolidated Hallmark Plc has said it will continue to reward best students in the essay competition organised by the firm with job opportunities and other cash prizes.

The Managing Director of the firm, Mr. Eddie Efekoha, stated this during the presentation of gifts to the best students from some tertiary institutions in the CHI Essay competition.

He said, "This is the third series in the essay competition. For the industry to grow, we need to continuously grow and update the talent. Those who had been in the system for long are leaving, we want to continue to ensure constant inflow into the process, because as there are exit. If we don't have enough input, then you will find out that over time the process will run dry."

The students wrote on the topic, "Social media and its potential for the Nigerian insurance market."

Praiz Duke, from the University of Lagos, won the best prize of N100,000, a plaque and an automatic employment in the company when he graduates.

Kabiru Goodluck from the River State University came second, winning N60,000 with a plaque and letter of award.

The third prize went to Adeoye Saheed from the Lagos State University, who also wonN40,000, a plaque and a letter of award.

The company also extended the competition to its internal staff, by giving them the opportunity to write on the topic, "Insurance as a catalyst for the development of agriculture in Nigeria."

In the category, the best three employees were rewarded.

In the category, the first prize went to Adebola Adeniji; the second prize went to Maryann Inyama, while Opeyemi Bobuwa came third.

The Chairman of the Awards Committee, Mrs. Mary Adeyanju, said that the screening process leading to the winners was thorough.

She said, "We took time to pick the best in the industry to do the screening both within and outside. We also aimed at creating awareness on insurance with the chosen topics."
