Ajimobi increases retirement age of poly staff to 65
Dec 7th 2012, 23:03

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Friday approved the implementation of the 2012 harmonised retirement age for members of the staff of Ibadan Polytechnic, which fixed the retirement age at 65 years.

The governor, who gave the approval on Friday at the 28th convocation ceremony of the institution, said it was in line with his administration's resolve to ensure the welfare of the workforce in the state without the latter agitating for it.

He said the government would not hesitate to grant approval to every legitimate demand of the staff unions, while urging the members of staff to reciprocate the gesture through hard work, dedication and unflinching commitment to performance of statutory duties.

Ajimobi commended the leadership of the three unions in the institution for displaying maturity in the course of pressing for their demands.

He promised to consider the request by the management of the institution for an upward review of the salary subvention in order to give room for recruitment of more staff into areas of critical needs.

The governor said the authorities of the institution should be more pro-active in generating addition funds for the institution through consultancy services.
