Minna- There was a bomb scare in Tunga Area in Minna , Niger state Monday just few meters to where a warehouse suspected to have been stuffed with bomb explosives was discovered about two weeks ago.
Our Correspondent reliably gathered that the explosives which were wrapped in a black polythene bag was hanged at the front of a Cyber Cafe opposite the popular Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar Motor Garage
in Tunga area of Minna, the state capital.
As the owner of the shop got to his shop early Monday morning, he became curious and scared of the polythene bag on the handle of his shop and had to keep off.
He was said to have immediately headed for the Tudun Wada police station where he lodged an official report.
It was gathered that the police reacted promptly to the clarion call and immediately invited the bomb unit to the shop for proper investigation.
The polythene bag it was gathered was immediately removed with the explosives detonated and which resulted to an explosion.
No life was however lost nor injury recorded in the process. However some shop owners around the Abdusalami Garage immediately closed their shops and took cover in order to avoid any injury from a possible explosion.
Some workers at the government secretariat which is also few meters from the scene of the incidence were also forced to take cover.
Bosso area of Minna the state capital was also reported to have experienced a Bomb explosion on Monday morning which the police however debunked.
Niger state police spokesman, DSP Pius Edobor when contacted confirmed the Bomb scare but denied that of Bosso.
"The Tunga episode was not a Bomb explosion but Bomb scare. Our Bomb Explosion unit has been drafted to the area and the explosives detonated and there were no casualties. We are still investigating and we will get to the root of the matter. I must however tell you that there was nothing like Bomb explosion or scare in Bosso," the PPRO remarked.
Two Sundays ago, a Bomb warehouse was discovered in the same area.
The development threw Minna, the state capital especially Tunga to confusion. The state police command is yet to comment officially on the development. Meanwhile, business activities have resumed in Minna especially in
Tunga area where the scare happened.
