The death of four undergraduates students of Uniport in the hands of a mob is still generating controversy and mixed debates even as the father of one of the victims, Chiadikobi says he has handed over the murderers to God! The agony is unimaginable for any parent to lose their child in such a manner.
Mr Onyema Biringa the father of Chiadikobi, is well-to-do as he is a top Senior Manager at the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
By virtue of his position, he can afford to buy any type of mobile phone or laptop for any of his four sons. But this morning when Onyema Biringa who is based in Port Harcourt, capital of RiversState in South-South Nigeria, woke up, it was to prepare for the burial of his first son, Chiadikobi, who was lynched on Friday by a mob for allegedly stealing handsets and laptops.
The bereaved father, who alongside his family is still reeling from shock and disbelief, is seeking divine intervention over the cruel fate that has befallen his beloved son. "I have handed over the murderers to God," he told a relative last night.
The only one to be identified, Chiadikobi's body has been taken to his hometown, Umungwa, Obowo, in neighbouring Imo State, for burial yesterday.
Outrage and condemnation has greeted his murder as well as the other three that were killed as a result of jungle justice as one of his relatives, Okonkwo Queen, wrote on his Facebook, "My eyes are filled with tears. My dear brother may your soul rest in peace."
