….as P-Square, Wizkid earn nominations for 2013 MTV EMA again
Nigerian acts, P-Square and Iyanya have been nominated among other African artistes for the Best International Performance category at this year's BET Soul Train Awards. BET announced on Wednesday, September 18, that the 2013 Soul Train Awards will celebrate and honour R&B's finest and most soulful artistes, at the Orleans Arena, in Las Vegas, NV.
The November 8 awards show promises to electrify with soul stirring performances, iconic tributes and a state-of-the-art second stage. Soul Train Awards 2013 will be hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson.
The awards will honour artistes in 12 different categories. Hip-hop sensation Kendrick Lamar leads with six nominations across multiple categories, including: Best New Artist, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Tied with five nominations each are Miguel, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Chris Brown and Tamar Braxton. Meanwhile, P-Square will 'square' up against fellow superstar music artiste Wizkid and continental contemporaries Mafikizolo, LCNVL and Fuse ODG for the Best African Act category of the "2013 MTV EMA".
On Tuesday, September 17, MTV made announced nominees for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, EMA, the annual music awards show that celebrates the year's hottest artistes from around the globe. Multi-talented Justin Timberlake and breakthrough artistes Macklemore and Ryan Lewis lead the EMA nominations with five nods each, while captivating Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are each up for four awards.
Other notable EMA nominees include Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Daft Punk, Rudimental, Icona Pop and One Direction, who are each up for three EMA nominations (with 1D's Harry Styles also nabbing a nod for Best Look). Artistes with two EMA nods include Rihanna, Katy Perry, Eminem, Jay Z, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, The Killers, Paramore, Rita Ora, Drake, Afrojack, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Iggy Azalea.. Voting for EMA categories opened on Tuesday and is on till Saturday, November 9, 2013. The "2013 MTV EMA" will broadcast live on MTV on Sunday, November 10, from the stunning new Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
