Auto manufacturers from Europe, Asia, America and other parts of the world may be part of future Abuja motor shows, the organiser of the annual event, BKG Exhibition Limited, has said.

Already, the firm is consulting with relevant stakeholders in and outside the country on how to actualise the dream of making the annual programme a global event.

The Managing Director, BKG Exhibition, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, gave the indication in Lagos, while announcing the preparation for the 15thh edition of the Abuja Motor Show.

"We will soon announce a total strategy for the event. We want it to become a major event in Africa whereby the auto companies will come and support their representatives in Nigeria," he said.

A statement from the company, which was obtained on Tuesday, said the planned direct invitation to the automobile manufacturers was a strategy aimed at changing the perception of auto exhibitions in the country.

He also declared that the new arrangement might be announced at the 15th Abuja Motor Show, where a transport summit was also be planned as part of the activities to mark the edition.

Agwu said Vice-President Namadi Sambo would declare the show open, which had been billed to hold between October 22 and 30.

"If we remember how we started and where we are today, you will agree with me that we have come a long way in making the show a big event that has become a household name in Nigeria," he said.

Apart from the Transport Summit to discuss how to move the transportation industry forward, he said an award night for participants and major players who had distinguished themselves in the industry and a fashion show and cultural events to liven the event, were part of the package.

"For business too, we are not leaving anything to chance. We have started making contacts with both the private the corporate visitors to ensure a large turnout during the fair," Agwu said.
