The Baale of Iju-Station, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos State, Chief Akintunde Savage, has urged Lagos State Government to eject illegal aliens from Oko-Oba abattoir.
The Baale said many of the aliens, who are Nigeriens and Malians, were the cause of filth and insecurity that had dogged residents of Oko-Oba.
Savage said, "They usually sneak in after midnight, hiding in trucks and among cattle. They elude policemen. If they don't have ulterior motive, they would have come into the abattoir in daytime."
He added that the space made available at the abattoir for cattle to stay overnight before being killed in the morning, have been turned to Kara Market (cattle market).
He said, "This space in Kara market inside the abattoir has even been leased out to aliens as tenement."
Savage implored the government to eject the aliens and illegal residents and relocate Kara market.
He said, "An expanse of land at Imota was provided for the cattle dealers by Governor Ahmed Tinubu during his first term. But none of them has gone there."
Savage said the abattoir was once clean and was then "a pride of Africa".
