Police kill three robbers in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday said its men killed three robbers operating along the Ijebu-Ode – Benin Expressway.

The robbers were gunned down around 1.30am while robbing motorists at Alafia, near J3.

The police said the robbers engaged men of the anti-crime patrol team attached to Ogbere Division in a shoot-out.

It added that dangerous weapons were recovered from the gang members such as a locally-made pistol, empty cartridges, machetes and objects suspected to be charms.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that two of the robbers were killed during the exchange of fire while other members escaped.

Adejobi, however said that one of the fleeing robbers, Joseph Oso, who escaped with bullet wounds, was later arrested.

He said Oso named other members of the gang before he gave up the ghost. Adejobi added that efforts were being made to apprehend the fleeing robbers.
