The Niger State Police Command has arrested Mr. Mohammed Adamu for allegedly killing his three months old son.
The mother of the baby and the ex-wife of the suspect had gone to collect the monthly upkeep of the baby as directed by the court when the suspect engaged her in a fight and forcefully collected the baby.
Mallama Shamsiya, a passerby, who sensed danger quickly rushed to her family house and alerted some members of her family. They however met his absence when they got there.
Concerned about the safety of the baby, they waited for him and they were surprised that at his arrival he was not with the three month old baby and they promptly reported to the Police.
The Niger state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Pius Edoboor while confirming the incident in Minna noted that upon interrogation by the Police, the suspect admitted killing the boy. He also said he buried him in his neighbourhood.
The Police spokesman however noted that an investigation has been launched into the case. He also said the command is putting arrangements in place to exhume the corpse for medical examination.
