The 85th annual Academy Awards aka The Oscars was held on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California and was hosted by ‘Family Guy‘ creator Seth MacFarlane for the first time.
The ceremony kicked off with the usual red carpet session which got social network Twitter buzzing for hours, recording over 200 tweets per second.
The 2012 3D adventure drama film ‘Life of Pi‘ turned out the biggest winner of the night taking home four awards including the ‘Best Directing’, and ‘Best Cinematography’.
The Ben Affleck directed drama thriller ‘Argo’ was also a big winner stealing the award for ‘Best Picture’ along with two other awards. Film director Quentin Tarantino also walked away with an award for ‘Original Screenplay’ for his ‘Django Unchained‘ movie.
The best actor and actress of the night went to Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln and Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ respectively while Christoph Waltz and Anne Hathaway won best supporting acts.
