French police have arrested seven people suspected of procuring Nigerian prostitutes who worked across France, judicial sources said Friday. The five men, including the suspected ringleader, and two women raked in some 90,000 euros ($120,000) a month from the illicit business, the sources said.
An investigation began in October 2011 established that the ringleader's companion, one of the two women arrested, recruited the women in Nigeria. Among the five others arrested was the sister of the suspected ringleader and her husband. The seven, who face charges of human trafficking and "aggravated" procuring of prostitutes, appeared before an investigating magistrate on Friday.
