A 25-year-old man has been accused of having sex with a three-year-old girl. Dustin Stevens, from Bangor, Maine, was indicted on Wednesday on one count each of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.
Authorities have not released details on what - if any - the relationship was between Stevens and the victim. The alleged conduct took place in October 2011 and was reported to the district attorney's office by the Department of Health and Human Services, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County Michael Roberts told the Bangor Daily News.
His bail has been set at $5,000. If convicted, the 25-year-old faces life in prison for the sexual assault charge. He will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
