In Yoruba folklore, there is a story about all animals agreeing to kill their mothers for food when famine was ravaging the land. All animals complied save the dog which hid his own mother far away in heaven. The moral lesson in this story vividly illustrates the role of our leaders in the current spate of insecurity in Nigeria. All animals seem to be donating their loved ones, albeit helplessly, to kidnappers while the head of the nation who is expected to protect us is hiding his loved ones including his mother far away in Aso Rock. If this trend of insecurity continues unabated, the bunker of security in high places shall soon be penetrated making the protected few vulnerable. If a queen is no more safe in the palace, where else is safe? The wind that blows off the cloth that was hung safely in the room is a warning sign to those who wear their own to buckle up.
