TICKER: "I believe my daughter was sold" – Mother of missing 2-year-old

When a two-year old girl disappears without anyone knowing what happened, your heart sinks to the bottom of your chest.  Bianca Jones disappeared recently, with her 32-year old father being charged.  But the mother of the child is now claiming that the little girl is probably alive and has been sold.

Police say that 32-year old D'Andre Lane committed the murder and staged a carjacking to throw off police.   The girl's mother, Banika Jones, says that she believes that her daughter is alive.

"They will not be able to bring in one person who will be able to testify to seeing my daughter hurt or seeing my daughter deceased," Banika Jones said. "I believe my daughters was kidnapped and somebody is holding her at this time.

"I believe they are keeping her, or they sold her."

Prosecutors believe that Lane beat his daughter, and wrapped her up in duct tape before killing her in response to an incident that involved potty training.  Police say that the man then wrapped the child's body up and drove his nephew to school.  That is when police say that he disposed of his daughter's body.  The car was found a few blocks away.

"I've never done anything to cause them any physical pain," Lane said.  "People would say I'm one of the nicest kindest people you would meet.  I don't know what the reason is for this; I just want to see her home."

Lane took his child from the mother back in November so that she could look for a job.  One of Lane's roommates said that he was a good father.

"He's one of my best friends," Banika Jones said. "We watch Star Trek, we play Monopoly, he plays go fish with my daughter."

"I think this is a case where the prosecution is feeding a media frenzy," said Lane's attorney Terry Johnson. "Any time a little girl is missing, we always want … to blame someone and sometimes its easier to blame a father.

"When you look into his background and you see he has seven kids and other things you make certain fast, quick assumptions."

Right now, the public and police are trying to determine if the father killed his daughter or if he really was carjacked.  The case is currently in court.
